This session is designed for elementary teachers who have little/no experience playing chess and would like to introduce students to chess. Participants will learn about: 1) Benefits of chess; 2) The pieces and rules; 3) How to gradually introduce pieces to students; 4) Mathematical applications of chess, and; 5) Basic strategy. Experienced players might not benefit from this session. Chess is a wonderful game and its principles help with learning mathematics-- if you have not played before, you will enjoy this session! All beginners are welcome!
